The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he illegally sold and supplied military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
The Army said that following his disappearance, the appropriate military authorities officially declared him wanted, adding that intensive efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him so he can face a comprehensive investigation and appropriate disciplinary action in line with extant military laws.
“The Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.”
It added that preliminary findings linked the soldier to the alleged illegal distribution of military uniforms before he allegedly fled from his unit.
The Corps stressed that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, indiscipline, and any act capable of undermining the operational effectiveness, integrity, and reputation of the Nigerian Army or posing a threat to national security.
According to the statement, any military personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals, or other non-state actors through the unauthorized sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other controlled military items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
“The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps wishes to state unequivocally that it has zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline, or any act capable of compromising the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security,” Aluko said.
It further warned that any personnel involved in supplying restricted military materials to terrorists or criminal groups would be dealt with decisively.
The Corps appealed to members of the public to support ongoing efforts by providing credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier.
It urged anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of Private Amutu to report immediately to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
Reassuring Nigerians of its commitment to accountability and professionalism, the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps said it would continue strengthening internal control measures to prevent the unauthorized diversion of military assets.
The Corps added that every allegation of misconduct involving its personnel would be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable would be held fully accountable in accordance with the law.
