Trump talks of ‘annihilation’, ‘elimination’ as US, Israel attack Iran

Trump Claims US-Israeli Strikes Aim to Eliminate Iranian Threats
United States President Donald Trump announced that joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran seek to eliminate “imminent threats” from the Iranian regime. He said the operation began “to defend the American people.”

Trump’s Statements
Trump delivered several claims and predictions without evidence. He promised to destroy Iran’s missile industry, annihilate its navy, and prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

“They will never have a nuclear weapon. This regime will soon learn that no one should challenge the strength of the United States Armed Forces,” Trump declared.

Iran’s Response
Iran vowed “crushing retaliation.” State TV reported that Iran would take revenge on Israel and deliver a strong response. Officials said they would strike back against US and Israeli forces.

Nuclear Program Dispute
Iran insists its nuclear program serves civilian purposes. It has repeatedly denied plans to build a nuclear weapon. US intelligence and the UN nuclear watchdog have found no evidence of an atomic weapons program. Israel and some US officials continue to push that narrative.

Targeting Iran’s Leadership
Al Jazeera’s Alan Fisher reported that US involvement aimed to “decapitate the Iranian regime.” Sources said strikes focused on areas where Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei might be sheltering.

The Associated Press confirmed that one target was near Khamenei’s offices in Tehran. Reuters reported that Khamenei had already moved to a secure location.

International Concerns
Several countries warned the US against the attack. They questioned what would follow if Iran’s leadership were removed. Analysts cautioned that eliminating the supreme leader might not produce a pro-US government.
