Iran targets Gulf states hosting US assets

Iran Strikes US Bases in Gulf States
Iran launched missile attacks on US military bases in several Gulf Arab states after a joint US‑Israeli strike on Iranian territory. The escalation has raised fears of a wider Middle East war.

Bahrain: Officials said Iran targeted the US Navy’s 5th Fleet headquarters, calling it a “blatant violation” of sovereignty.

Kuwait: Residents heard explosions near US Central Command facilities.

Qatar: The Defense Ministry confirmed all incoming missiles were intercepted.

Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE closed their airspace after the attacks.

Iran’s Military Response
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility. It said Iranian missiles struck “all Israeli and US military targets in the Middle East.” The IRGC vowed to continue operations until “the enemy is decisively defeated.”

Diplomatic Fallout
Hours before the strikes, Oman’s foreign minister expressed optimism about peace talks. He said Iran agreed not to stockpile enriched uranium. That breakthrough collapsed when the US and Israel attacked, ending negotiations.

Regional Impact
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)—Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE—now faces its most serious security crisis in decades. In Doha, residents reported multiple interceptions by Patriot defense systems.

Al Jazeera correspondents noted that Iran now considers all US assets in the region “fair game.”
